Boozies, Bloody Marys and Beer

A last minute get-together with Sherry, Soosie and their boys means COCKTAILS!

They ended up at McCormick & Schmick's - what's better than a long afternoon of seafood, chit chat and an adult beverage or two?  The boys drank beer, the Boozies drank Bloody Marys.  Super spicy with just the right amount of horseradish.  They were perfect with the fried oysters!  Cheers!

Happy Hour(s)!

Soosie's high school friend, DD, came to the shore for an unexpected visit so, of course...  Happy Hour!  DD had a couple of the bar's specialty cosmos. Soosie, pretending she was on vacation, ordered a Mango Mai Tai.  She liked it enough to order again!  And again!  Glug glug!

Lemon Floozie

Time to try out some summer-y cocktail recipes!  This night, Soosie and her Boozer Boyfriend (BB), made something they called The Lemon Floozie!  Vodka, fresh lemon juice and some seltzer splashed on top.  SO good!

Martini Night! Again!

Soosie had the girls over again for more martini-tasting.  The newly created Carla-tini (top pic) is made with vodka, a little POM and lemon juice.  The pineapple upside-down cake martini (bottom pic) has become an old favorite.  Cheers!

Laurita Winery

Soosie attended a Bachelorette Brunch at Laurita Winery - which happened to fall on the weekend of their "Girls Getaway Weekend" event.  There were jewelry and cosmetic vendors, tarot readers and a masseuse which added to the fun of our day!  We also had a tractor-pull tour of the winery - beautiful place!  If you have the opportunity, take the tour - informative and so picturesque.  Soosie did some tasting, too.  (Glug glug.)  She boozed up on the Windswept White from the Down The Shore collection.  Not too sweet and easy to drink - just how Soosie like her white wine!

Martini Wednesday

Soosie enjoyed this cranberry-pineapple martini prior to seeing Casablanca on the big screen for its 70th anniversary!  The martini was pretty to look at, but really it was just a bay breeze in a martini glass with some lime juice.  The movie, however, was even better onscreen that Soosie imagined it could be!  It's one of her favorites!

Sangria

After a lo-o-ong day of training, Sherry kicked back with some Spanish food and a nice, cold Sangria.  Salud!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Sherry!

Corned beef and cabbage for Sherry today, too.  And a Guinness!  She is pretty sure that in a previous life, she was a Gaelic Lass roaming the coastline of the Emerald Isle!  Begosh and begorrah!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Soosie!

Soosie had a traditional dinner - corned beef, cabbage, potatoes & carrots, soda bread.  And some Murphy's Irish Stout.

May God give you...
For every storm, a rainbow,
For every tear, a smile,
For every care, a promise,
And a blessing in each trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh, a sweet song,
And an answer for each prayer.

Malibu & Coke

Soosie watched the sunset, ate some seafood, enjoyed some acoustic James Taylor covers and drank her old stand-by - Malibu & Coke.  This was the first of many.  Love the candle behind it making it glow...

Vesper Martini

Yep - 007's martini in Casino Royale.  The Vesper Martini.  Soosie's drinking companion decided he wanted to try one - and he ended up having two.  The bartender didn't know how to make one so Soosie and her boozer boyfriend (BB) looked it up online.  Ha, guess not too many people order them!  Soosie tasted it - STRONG - but she's not a gin drinker.  BB loved it.  And it sure was pretty to look at....

Pom-a-rita

Soosie just *had* to make a margarita to celebrate National Margarita Day! This one is made with Cabo Wabo tequila, POM and lime juice. Cheers!

Venetian Sangria

Soosie ordered a Venetian Sangria at the Wine Bar at Fornelletto in the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City - and loved it!

Beer Label Fun

Soosie went to a party at a friend's house, a true Beer Aficionado.  He knows beer like no one else.  Soosie brought an old favorite, Brooklyn Brown Ale, and some River Horse Belgian Style Tripel Ale (10 abv!).  Both tasty, although she prefers the Brooklyn Brown.  It soon became a beer tasting event since the Beer Aficionado had invited other beer aficionados as well.  What tickled Soosie's fancy?  The beer labels!  So funny, so clever!  The two in the bottom pic - Clown Shoes beer, Muffin Top and Tramp Stamp - were among her favorites.

Cosmo

Soosie glug-glugged a tried and true Cosmo at the Tuckerton Beach Grille on Comedy Night.

Chianti

Sherry enjoyed some chianti at Carlucci's Waterfront in Mt Laurel, NJ.

Chocolate Covered Pretzel shot

Soosie loves these shots!  She first had one (that turned into several) while in Indianapolis during the summer of 2011.  Easy enough to make, too!  She salts the rim of the glass, but some folks have suggested licking it off your hand like when you do a tequila shot.  It really tastes like a chocolate covered pretzel.  Try it!

Recipe -
1 oz Pinnacle Whipped vodka
1 oz Frangelica
salt

Martini Night!

Soosie had the girls over to her house to "taste-test" some martinis.  Top pic - chocolate whipped martinis. Bottom pic is a key lime pie martini and a pineapple upside down cake martini.  All were VERY tasty.  Cheers!

Dessert!

In lieu of dessert, Soosie decided to have a Young's Double Chocolate Stout after dinner.  So chocolate-y, so creamy!  Mmmmm....

Old Brown Dog

Soosie took her nearly 13-year old old yellow dog for a walk on the beach in Surf City on Long Beach Island.  It was c-c-cold.  Stopped at the Plantation in Harvey Cedars to warm up with a bowl of soup and a beverage.  In honor of her pup, she ordered the Smuttynose Old brown Dog Ale.  Woof!

Sayonara, Sedona!

The Boozies walked across the street from their hotel to a restaurant called Relics for their last dinner in Sedona.  It's an interesting mix of fine dining and flea market - "relics" line each nook and cranny with price tags affixed.  A bit bizarre, but it seemed to work for this place.

They toasted their trip with a Sauvignon Blanc from Chile - and look forward to the next Boozie adventure.  Cheers!

Oak Creek Brewery

The Boozies spent the morning on a Pink Jeep tour.  It snowed which only added to the magic that they experienced that day!  While coming off the high of their morning, they meandered around Tlaquepaque Village and soon wandered into the Oak Creek Brewery.  It was warm and toasty and they could have stayed all day.  Sherry had the 49er Gold Lager, Soosie had the Village Nut Brown Ale.  A plate of fried pickles and they were a couple of happy Boozies.

Barking Frog

After a day of sight-seeing, wineries, hiking, and shopping, the Boozies found their way to the Barking Frog Grille in Sedona.  Sherry had a prickly pear cactus margarita and Soosie enjoyed an Arizona Sunset (she does love that Malibu Rum).  Both drinks were delicious and the perfect way to wash down their cactus fries!

Screaming Mary

Still working their way to Sedona, the Boozies stopped at the Asylum Restaurant in the Jerome Grand Hotel (Jerome, AZ) for lunch and a cocktail.  Supposedly, the hotel is haunted.  While they saw no ghosts or paranormal activity, they *did* enjoy the Screaming Mary cocktail - hauntingly spicy and eerily delicious!  Booooo!

Alcantara Vineyard

Ready for our next tasting!
On a road less traveled, but well worth the side trip, the Boozies stopped at Alcantara Vineyards in Verde Valley, AZ.  They decided to do the VIP tasting and it was worth it!  The wine was delicious (Sherry bought a bottle to take with them to the hotel), the people were super friendly and the vineyard itself was beautiful.  If you're in the area, follow the signs to Alcantara and tell them the Traveling Boozies sent you!

Kabuki!

Sushi and cocktails for the Boozies at Kabuki!  Soosie had a Kirin Ichiban, Sherry had a pomegranate sake-tini!  If in the area, they would head straight back to this area - the food at Kabuki was outstanding and the Tempe Marketplace was a fun place to be!

Arizona or bust!

Rum and coke for Soosie, Chardonnay for Sherry.  Look out Phoenix - the Traveling Boozies are headed your way!
